Where to go from Cinque Terre

Hi! My fiancé and I are planning our honeymoon and I need help with the portion of the trip taking place mid-May 2025. We will be going from Florence to Cinque Terre, and we aren't sure what path to take after that.

I spent a while in Nice last year and loved it, and I would absolutely not be opposed to going back there and giving my fiancé the chance to see the French Riviera. The other idea (which probably wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but might work for us) is to find a way to travel more north into the Alps – we are open to any region. This would be especially fine with us if there is a scenic train route that would take us there, even if it would be a long journey. We love mountains and were really hoping to incorporate mountains and more hiking into our travels somehow, but we would be happy with an alternative if it's not in the cards.

Another idea is potentially taking a train (well, multiple trains) from Cinque Terre to Paris but via a route that stops near the Alps for a night or two along the way? Or Cinque Terre to Paris stopping in other destinations that are not in the Alps but are along the path and worth visiting so that we can end our trip with a couple of days in Paris.

We will have about a week left of our trip once we depart from Cinque Terre. We're very open to any new ideas not listed here as well!
