Do I need a local Travel Agent, or can I use one on here?

Planning a trip in June to most likely Cap Cana, DR (possibly Cancun but leaning DR) for our honeymoon. I have my resorts down to a couple choices in each area. Should I book with costco travel, by myself, or a TA?
