Hello all!
My fiance (35M) and I (26F) are currently in the early stages of planning our wedding and honeymoon. We would like to visit either Ireland or Germany, and I would like to see if anyone has specific ideas for Must See locations or any advice for places to stay away from. [I have already searched this subreddit for posts including Ireland and Germany, but the posts I found did not contain specific advice I was hoping for, especially for the timeframe of our honeymoon.]
Background information: Our wedding is planned for September 20, 2026 (Sunday) and we are hoping to take 7-10 days for the honeymoon. While we would likely go immediately after the wedding (leaving Monday or Tuesday), I am open to recommendations on whether we should take extra time between the wedding and honeymoon. The budget for the honeymoon is between $5-7k. We are based on the west coast of the USA. I've traveled internationally before (England, France, Italy, and Australia) while he has only gone out of the country on a cruise and driving to Canada.
We are both nerdy (love board games and video games) and love the outdoors. Our ideal honeymoon would have us driving to see beautiful outdoor scenery and architecture, maybe a hike or two, spending time with locals, and a bit of sightseeing tourism as well. Definitely also looking for restaurant recommendations if you have any!
We are open to any and all feedback, opinions, and recommendations for Ireland or Germany, as those are our two main destinations we'd love to see. I am also aware that the timeframe would be during Oktoberfest in Germany, so any tips or feedback on that are welcome too!!
Please let me know if there is any information that would be more helpful to include in this post! I will also do my best to answer any questions in the comments!! Thanks in advance!!! 🙂
TLDR: Is Ireland or Germany better for a late September 2026 honeymoon of 7-10 days for $5-7k?
