Where do I start and where should I go?

I am planning a honeymoon for May 19-24 (ish). I'm not opposed to go a little longer, but I only have $3,000 to spend. To be honest, I've never travelled much before, with the exception of a two week road trip through the states and I just camped along the way. I'm quite overwhelmed planning a trip of this importance and with what seems like a limited budget.

Both of our passports are expired, so most likely we will need to renew them asap. I have looked at Puerto Rico as an alternative to renewing the passports, but I'd like to entertain other options.

Some say all-inclusives are nice, others say they are more expensive.

I would love to hang on the beach and snorkel and maybe fish a little, but we have both agreed we may get bored just sitting around a resort all day for a week. We wouldn't mind guided tours and other fun activities.

With my budget, is anything Asia/Pacific Islands worth considering? Is it worth renewing passports to do Mexico or some other place in the Caribbean?

I apologize if this comes off scatter brained, I'm a bit overwhelmed. I appreciate any advice you may have.
