Mini Honeymoon Ideas Within 8 Hours of New Orleans (End of November)

Hi everyone! My fiancé and I are getting married the weekend before Thanksgiving, and we’re hoping to take a mini honeymoon that following week, leaving that Monday and staying a few days.

We’ve decided to push our “real” honeymoon back a few months because: 1. My fiancé doesn’t have a Real ID or passport yet (we’re working on it 😅) 2. Flying anywhere during Thanksgiving week just sounds miserable

So for now, we’re looking for a romantic, drivable getaway within about 8 hours of New Orleans. Ideally something cozy, scenic, and relaxing with a great view like mountains, a lake, or the ocean.

We’ve been to Destin, FL a million times (my fiancé LOVES Florida), but I’m not feeling another Gulf Shores, Panama City, or Destin trip. It’s just a little too “been there, done that.” I still love the water though, so something coastal but different would be perfect.

We’ve tossed around Tennessee or Arkansas since we’ve never done a mountain or cabin-style trip together. We’re both foodies who love going out to eat, but he’s a chef, so cooking at home is totally fine if the place itself is special.

We want it to feel romantic and memorable, not just a random weekend getaway. Something with cozy vibes, good food, pretty scenery, and time to unwind after the wedding chaos.

We’re also open to splitting the drive if it makes sense, maybe stopping somewhere fun halfway or spending a night in another town on the way.

Would love to hear any recommendations for hidden gem towns, cozy cabins, boutique inns, resorts, or romantic spots that would be great for a late-November mini honeymoon.
